Removing Trees That Need to Go
Most trees we remove fall into a few groups: trees that are dead, diseased, or leaning; trees in the footprint of a new house, driveway, or shop; trees too close to a roof, fence, or line; and trees left over from a larger clearing. Each one gets a plan before the first cut.
Large and Hazardous Trees
Cottonwood, pecan, elm, and oak along creek corridors in this part of Williamson County can grow large. Storms and drought can leave limbs and whole trees weak. Where a tree could fall on a structure, it is usually taken down in sections instead of being dropped whole.
Oaks and Oak Wilt
Texas A&M Forest Service recommends not pruning or wounding oaks from February through June, because that is when oak wilt spreads most easily. If an oak has to be cut in that window, any fresh wound on nearby oaks should be painted right away. Non-urgent oak work is best done in midsummer or winter.
Stump Grinding
A stump left in the ground is a mowing hazard, a sprouting problem, and an obstacle for fences, footings, and pavement. A stump grinder cuts the stump and the main root flare below grade, leaving wood chips that can be raked in or hauled.
- Grind depth is set to your plan: lawn, planting, or construction.
- Chips can stay, be spread, or be hauled.
- For a building pad, deeper removal or grubbing may be needed. See site prep and pad grading.
Our Process
1. Assess
We look at the tree, what is under and around it, and how it can come down safely.
2. Remove
Trees are taken down by section or felled when there is room. Limbs are processed and the trunk is cut to size.
3. Grind and Clean Up
Stumps are ground and the area is cleaned up per the estimate.
What Affects the Cost of Tree Removal?
- Size and species: height, trunk diameter, and wood type.
- Location: near a house, lines, a fence, or in the open.
- Access: whether equipment can reach the tree.
- Condition: dead or leaning trees add risk.
- Cleanup: chip and log haul-off, and stump depth.
City Rules
Rules differ by city. For example, Georgetown requires approval to remove or prune designated heritage trees. We help you check your address before cutting. If a whole lot needs to be cleared, see land clearing.
