Land Clearing Contractors Serving Round Rock, TX 78664
Round Rock straddles the Balcones Escarpment, about 7 miles west of Hutto. East of I-35 the land is mostly flat Blackland Prairie with deep clay soil; west of it the ground turns hilly and rocky, with thin soil over limestone. Brushy Creek runs through town from west to east. That split changes how land gets cleared on each side.
Two Kinds of Ground
On the east side, old fields and fence rows fill with mesquite and brush, and wet clay limits when heavy equipment can work. On the west side, Ashe juniper (cedar) thickets are common on rocky slopes. See brush and cedar clearing for how thick cedar is handled.
Round Rock Tree Protection
Round Rock has a tree protection ordinance that covers larger trees, generally those 8 inches in diameter and up, with extra protection for very large "monarch" trees. Development sites need a tree survey and review. If you are inside city limits, check before removing large trees.
Oaks on the West Side
Live oaks are common on the western half of town. Texas A&M Forest Service advises against pruning or wounding oaks from February through June because of oak wilt. For single trees, see tree removal and stump grinding.
