Clearing Land the Way You Plan to Use It
Land clearing is not one job. Clearing a homesite means saving the good trees and opening a clean building area. Clearing pasture means getting rid of brush and mesquite without stripping topsoil. Clearing a lot for a builder means removing everything, quickly, so the next trade can start. We start every project by asking what the land is for, then pick the method.
Lot and Homesite Clearing
Many buyers around Hutto, Taylor, and Coupland purchase raw acreage that is solid brush from fence to fence. We clear the building area, the driveway path, and the space around the house, and leave the trees you want to keep, so the property feels like a homesite instead of a thicket.
Acreage and Pasture Clearing
Old fields on the Blackland Prairie fill in with brush, mesquite, and young trees surprisingly fast. We clear them back to usable ground for grazing, hay, or open land, and can use forestry mulching to keep topsoil and cover in place.
Fence Line and Right-of-Way Clearing
Overgrown fence lines hide damage, trap debris, and make repairs a chore. We clear fence rows, access roads, and utility or easement corridors to a width you choose, so a new fence goes in straight and the line stays easy to maintain.
Heavy Brush, Cedar and Large Trees
Dense cedar is its own job, covered on our brush and cedar clearing page. Large trees near buildings or in the way of a build are handled through tree removal and stump grinding.
Our Land Clearing Process
1. On-Site Walk and Written Estimate
We walk the property with you, note access, terrain, and creek or drainage areas, and agree on boundaries and what stays. You get a written estimate that names the method and the finished condition.
2. Marking and Access
Trees to keep are marked, boundaries are confirmed, and we plan where equipment enters and where debris will go.
3. Clearing
The crew clears with the agreed method: mulching in place, or cutting and removing. Work stays inside the marked area.
4. Debris and Cleanup
Debris is mulched, stacked, or hauled as agreed. Burning is hard to count on, since Texas limits outdoor burning and Williamson County can order a burn ban in dry weather.
5. Next Steps
If you are building, we can hand off to site prep and pad grading. If you are leaving it as pasture, we talk through erosion and regrowth so the land stays clear.
What Affects the Cost of Land Clearing?
- Acreage: the total area, and how many separate parcels or strips.
- Density: light brush, mesquite, thick cedar, and mature hardwoods each take very different amounts of work.
- Tree size: large trunks and stumps slow the work and may call for removal and grinding.
- Method: mulching in place, versus cutting, grubbing and hauling.
- Access and terrain: gates, slopes, creeks, wet clay, and distance from the road.
- Debris: whether material stays as mulch or has to be hauled away.
Estimates are free, so you can compare quotes fairly.
